Colombia-07-Lost City Trek Day 2: Meeting the Wiwa Tribe & Lost Phone Drama in the Colombian Jungle!

Day 2 of my epic 5-day Lost City Trek (Ciudad Perdida) adventure in Colombia takes me even deeper into the breathtaking Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains! After spending the night at Adan Campsite, our international group wakes up before sunrise and begins another challenging day of hiking through dense jungle trails on our journey to the legendary Lost City. Along the way, we visit a traditional Wiwa village and meet a Mamo, the spiritual leader of the Wiwa people, one of the four descendants of the ancient Tayrona civilization. We learn about indigenous traditions, coca leaf chewing, handcrafted mochilas and bolsas, how agave fibers are transformed into beautiful bags and backpacks. This cultural experience becomes one of the highlights of the trek. The adventure continues with river crossings, steep climbs, incredible jungle scenery, refreshing swims, and a well-deserved lunch stop at Mumake Campsite. But the day takes a dramatic turn when severe leg cramps threaten to stop me from reaching our next camp. Just when I think the challenges are over, disaster strikes. After enjoying a swim beneath two beautiful waterfalls near Paraiso Camp, I realize my phone has disappeared. Did I accidentally jump into the river with it in my pocket? What follows feels like a miracle.
