« Âgés, toujours compétents et utiles » .

The Basse-Terre Social Action Center (CCAS) celebrated the seniors involved in the "Older, Still Skilled and Useful" initiative at a closing ceremony on July 3, 2026, at the Petit-Paris Community Center. The event highlighted the commitment of twenty participants, commending their motivation and active contribution. Led by the CCAS as part of the MONALISA program, with support from GIP-DAIFI, this project aimed to value the experience of seniors, strengthen their confidence, and maintain social connections. After several months of support, the participants received a symbolic award, marking the community's recognition of their active role in social life. Beyond the awards, the ceremony was a moving and proud occasion, emphasizing that age is an asset and that the skills of seniors are a valuable resource for the region. With this action, the City of Basse-Terre and its CCAS reaffirm their support for healthy aging, social inclusion and the essential place of seniors in society.
