Ypres West Level Crossing

Tuesday June 10 2025 at 9.36. The 7.36 Antwerpen-Centraal to Poperinge (9.53) train. This is now the 5th level crossing on this line as the previous 5th is now for cycles only and the 6th which is just left of the concrete hut at the end of this video is now only a foot crossing. You'd have to be very deaf not to hear the alarm here. Belgium alarms are quite loud generally. Cyclists are made to cross the track at 90º presumably to avoid any chance of getting a tyre stuck. But that involves quite a sharp manoeuvre. Some riders not really paying attention as they wander home half asleep in the dark, might hit the little humps designed to stop them taking the shortest route. #spoorwegovergang #sncb #ieper
