We visited the Scuola del Cuoio in Florence, one of the most fascinating artisan workshops in Italy, where the tradition of leather goods takes shape through leather, expert hands, and centuries of history. Hidden within the Monastery of Santa Croce, the Scuola del Cuoio was founded after World War II with a specific mission: to teach a trade to war orphans and give them a future. Today, over seventy years later, it remains the most authentic leather workshop in the city. They opened the doors of their workshop to us, explaining their work, from leather processing to gold engraving on leather, to the attention to detail that makes each object unique and one-of-a-kind.
