In February 2004, Blackburn Rovers signed Jonathan Stead from Huddersfield Town for over £1m. An unknown quantity to Rovers fans at the time, Stead managed to score six vital goals in the final four months of the 2003/4 season to help Rovers avoid relegation from the Premier League. One of the highlights of Stead's time at Rovers was the winning goal he scored against Manchester United at Ewood Park in May 2004, with Rovers desperately in need of points and games running out. Jon made 47 appearances for Rovers during a 16 month spell at the club, scoring 8 goals, before leaving to join Sunderland in June 2005. His efforts and goals, in the latter part of the 2003/4 season in particular, mean that he will always be fondly remembered by the Rovers fans.
