Years ago we were sitting on our couch watching a YouTube channel build a van from scratch... and we had no idea it would completely change our lives. Today we're at West Coast Van Fest 2026, surrounded by tons of like minded people who were all brought together by the exact same youtuber. A guy named Chrome from the Chrome Project. And honestly... this feels a little surreal." So let's dive into the Van Fest and how it comes full circle to this chapter in our lives! We are Scott and Steph, a couple of adventurers seeking out fun, unique and beautiful spots while camping in our converted Ford transit van, Stella. Chapter 1 - West Coast Van Festival 2026 If you love vans, overlanding and roadtrips, or just being around people who are always planning their next adventure, then West Coast Van Fest 2026 was the place for you. Held at the Coombs Fairgrounds on Vancouver Island, West Coast Van Fest was a three-day celebration of van life, overlanding, and the incredible community that's grown around it. Families set up beside retired couples who’ve traded routine for road trips. Solo travelers who’ve been chasing coastlines for years end up swapping stories with weekend campers just testing the waters. And then there are the full-time vanlifers—the ones who’ve turned a vehicle into a home and a lifestyle into a long-term choice. Everyone’s here for a different reason, but somehow it all blends into the same shared space. Chapter 2 - Our Story Before any of this...before the camping trips, before our YouTube channel, before exploring British Columbia almost every weekend...there was just us sitting on the couch watching Chrome build out his original van and go on epic adventures with us dreaming out maybe someday we can do that." Eventually someday became a reality. We bought our van almost 4 years ago and started going on epic adventures with our our adventure pup Google. We travelled to all over Vancouver island and the united states and decided to share our adventures with everyone through this youtube channel. The main idea behind our channel is eat, camp, play. So we show you where we camp, whether it's a paid site or a boondocking spot, where and what we eat whether it's BBQing or hitting a great restaurant and the adventures that we get up to each place we visit. Sadly our pup Google is no longer with us but will forever live on this channel which we are so grateful for. Chapter 3 - Back to LIVIN the WEST COAST Van Fest DREAM Coming to WEST COAST Vanfest 2026 we knew would be a good time to see so many different vans, rigs and even micro vans and car builds. Some of the main vendors here included Chromes Van Toys Off Road, Andy from Overland Interiors, PUra Vida Vans/ Stoked Adventures, plus Goodfellas hot rod garage, also a shout to Emi, The Cat Lady Van who was also showing off her van build in progress but we missed getting to peek inside. Seeing it on Youtube doesn't quite give it justice. . Unfortunately being caught up checking out most of these vendors and being in awe we neglected to film. Sorry guys. Chapter 4 - Thank you Chrome It's funny how one person sharing who they truly are and what they love can quietly change thousands of lives. Looking around this field, we're probably not the only people who bought a van because of his videos that popped up on YouTube years ago. The vans are incredible...but the community he has created is even better. We came here expecting to film a van festival. Instead, we found ourselves reflecting on everything that happened after pressing play on one YouTube video years ago. That decision led us to buying a van...exploring places we never would have visited...starting this channel...and meeting people who love adventure just as much as we do. So if Chrome ever watches this...thank you. Not just for building incredible vans, but for building a community that inspired us to start living our lives a little differently.
