器之所在 - Where Things Live | Zhang Zi Hao

This film follows the life and practice of Zhang Zi Hao - a ceramic artist whose work quietly grows alongside the rhythms of his everyday life. Rather than beginning with a concept or collection, his work begins with lived experience. The things he cooks with, the cups he reaches for, the rituals he returns to, and the moments shared with family gradually find their way into the objects he makes. As life changes, so too does his work. While process is often the focus in craft, this film shifts its attention towards the person behind the work - the conversations, routines and quiet reflections that shape not only the objects themselves, but the life they come from. Through this feature, we spend time in his studio and home, speaking with him about making, family, coffee, and the everyday moments that continue to shape his practice. — Zhang Zi Hao (张自豪) Ceramic Artist Zi Hao's practice is deeply rooted in everyday life. Rather than separating making from living, he creates the things he finds himself needing and using, allowing each stage of life to quietly guide the work that follows. His current body of work centres around coffee, not simply as a beverage, but as a ritual of gathering, conversation and sharing. — This film is presented as part of Where Things Live 器之所在 - an artisan feature series exploring the lives behind handmade objects, and the quiet ways they become part of our everyday.
