5 Ursusów, Bizon i własny Strip Till za 4 tys. zł „Ograniczeniem nie jest ciągnik, tylko pomysł”
"Yields don't depend on what I drive in the field," says Jarosław Bandosz, a farmer from the Lublin region, owner of five Ursus tractors and a Bison tractor, which he uses on his 68-hectare farm. The 32-year-old focuses on crop production. He primarily grows wheat, rye, and corn. The farm also grows sugar beets, rapeseed, and sunflowers. "Recent years have allowed us to make really good money from sugar beets," says Bandosz. Last year, he harvested an average of 73.4 tons/ha. Wheat yields an average of 6 tons/ha, rye 7-8 tons/ha, rapeseed 3.5 tons/ha, and sunflowers around 3 tons/ha. Speaking about his tillage method, the farmer emphasizes that tractor power isn't the limit. The only limitation is the idea. "The greatest skill is to manage your field so that you can literally till it with a branch." It's no secret to attach a 300-horsepower tractor to a 3-meter no-tillage unit and claim it lacks power. The trick is to get the soil structured so that it works itself without having to exert much force, he emphasizes. The most powerful tractors on the farm – the Ursus 1224 and its twin, the Zetor Crystal 12045 – each have 120 hp, but they allow for various no-tillage methods, including Strip Till technology. Jarosław Bandosz built most of the machinery used for tillage himself. The only costs include steel, prefabricated components, welding, and the time spent building it. He admits that the Strip Till unit cost him around 4,000 PLN. The machines don't look perfect – they do rust – but, as the farmer emphasizes, this is intentional. This reduces costs, and he's comfortable with further modifications and design changes. The farmer adapts to the current situation in his fields every year, rather than sticking to rigid patterns. He also emphasizes that precise knowledge of the soil, its nutrients, and condition is the foundation of management. This allows him to reduce his expenditure on fertilizers and plant protection products, which he tries to gradually eliminate. "It's not about blind faith in ecology. The point is that with small changes, you can farm more economically and produce healthier food," he emphasizes. Details are in the video.
