Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new antique restoration! I found this piece of an old shashka sword at a flea market. This item was used as a cleaver or a regular knife, but I will fix it! Well, let's start the restoration! 0:00 Review 0:28 Handle dismantling 1:52 Rust remover 3:13 Metalworking 4:22 Sanding 4:30 Bip-bip 4:54 Etching 5:54 Handle part 1 8:28 Handle part 2 10:30 Handle gluing 11:39 Final processing 12:08 Wood scabbard 15:31 Leatherworking 16:26 Making scabbard fittings 18:43 Leather suspension for scabbard 19:31 Finishing touches 20:59 Final review 21:37 Test I decided to make a cossack knife out of this piece of shashka. First, I removed the old handle. And put a piece of a checker in a rust remover. As usual, after I washed, dried and oiled. I decided to shape the knife by cutting off a small piece of steel from the blade. Next, I processed the blade on a sanding machine. Also, I corrected the cutting edge, the shape and made new bevels. With the help of an iron wire brush, I cleaned the metal surface. Next, sanding of the cutting edge and etching of the blade in iron chloride. The next item is the handle. I chose beech wood. Initially, I glued two parts together, and then cut out the shape of the handle. After the final processing, I moved on to creating the scabbard. The sheath for the knife was made of wood, pasted with genuine leather and additionally made of brass fittings. I made a leather suspension so that I could wear a knife on my belt. And as usual, a delicious and interesting knife test is waiting for you! I hope, you will enjoy this antique restoration video. Thank you for attention! Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
