In this video, I tackle one of the most surprising restorations ever in my workshop in Sardinia. I rescued this antique late 19th-century desk, featuring typical Umbertino style lines, which had been completely ruined and covered in thick layers of green paint. My goal was to remove all the enamel to bring the original wood back to light, but during the paint removal and disassembly, I made an incredible discovery: a secret drawer cleverly hidden in the structure! After scraping off the green, I was finally able to admire the dark grain and the beautiful baluster-turned legs, typical of the artisanal production of that era. I repaired the structural damage, glued the detached parts, and finally applied a targeted finish to enhance the natural warmth of the wood.
