Sketchy Cracked Support Timbers and Collapses - Exploring the Abandoned Apollo Mine (Part 1 of 3)

Hi everyone, sorry for my absence over the past few weeks. It's exploring season and I have a hard time squeezing in time to edit videos. You'll be happy to know that this video series is three parts, so maybe that's some consolation for the lack of videos recently. The Apollo Mine surprised us with its size and complexity. It took us about 8 hours to explore, and we were moving fast! This mine was worked primarily for silver, though several other minerals were recovered as well. The mine features six main levels with nearly continuous stoping between each level. If you like timbering (which I do) then you'll love this mine. Nearly the entire mine is provided with timber supports. This is due mainly to fact that the stopes are continuous throughout the length of each drift. You'll notice throughout the video that time has taken its toll on many of the timbers. We find several cracked, split, and otherwise on the brink of total failure.
