The Deeper We Went The More Intense It Got

Deep inside the mountains of Utah, we explore an abandoned gold and copper mine that has been left untouched for decades. This mine is part of the historically significant Preuss- San Francisco Mining District, which was discovered in 1870. Much of the mine is flooded, creating an eerie underground landscape of dark water, rusting equipment, and collapsing tunnels. The mine was operating between the years 1916 and 1956. This mine presents serious hazards, including dangerously low oxygen levels, unstable ground, deep water, and the ever-present risk of rockfall. One of the most remarkable discoveries is an old mine rail system with an intact mine car that still survives underground, offering a glimpse into the mine's past and the harsh conditions miners once faced. After we leave the flooded section of the mine, we find a charcoal kiln, a huge adit with stalagmites, ruins of an old cabin, an open pit mine with a large copper vein, and the ruins of a large mill. Join us as we document the history, explore the remaining workings, and navigate the flooded passages of this forgotten gold and copper mine.
