GULLE: El maestro que le puso color

One day, Hortensia magazine featured Horacio Tomás Gulle's work on its cover, and from then on, everything changed. In "Viñetas con más chapa" (Comics with More Showcase), we review and celebrate the work of this excellent cartoonist, one of the great masters of the legendary Cordoba-based publication. A creative and highly versatile artist, Gulle was making a name for himself in the advertising field. In fact, he was creating ads for the magazine itself until Alberto Cognigni noticed him, recognizing that his talent for graphic humor would take him far. His debut was a grand affair: a grand presentation, and drawings that went straight to the cover. Over time, Gulle would become the author of those memorable full-color covers that marked a golden age for Hortensia and for Argentine humor. This platform opened doors for him to other major Argentine magazines and international humor exhibitions, where he garnered several awards and selections. He also lived for a few years in Italy, expanding his career as an advertising and humor illustrator for numerous clients. Today, Gulle remains active, drawing and teaching at the university level. However, his signature style is indelibly etched in the excellence of those covers that brought laughter to generations of Cordobans and Argentinians. At Viñetas con más chapa, we have the privilege of highlighting another giant of the “Hortensia Universe” who set a precedent and left an indelible mark.
