Cause of Incident: Teacher Confiscates Cell Phone in Accordance with School Regulations The beating incident began when Eko confiscated a student's cell phone for using it outside of group study purposes on Friday (October 31, 2025). The school actually allows only two cell phones per group for searching for study materials. "The student was caught using her cell phone for non-study purposes, so I confiscated it and handed it over to the student affairs department. That's school regulation," Eko explained. This disciplinary measure sparked anger among the student's family. After receiving several intimidating phone calls, Eko was hit on the head by a man claiming to be the student's older brother. The incident occurred in front of his wife and child. "I had just come home from Friday prayers. Suddenly, a car stopped, and someone got out and hit me on the head. My wife saw everything," he said softly. The perpetrator has been detained, but peace efforts are considered to be disruptive to law enforcement. The police have named the perpetrator a suspect and detained him in the Trenggalek Police detention cell since Monday (November 3, 2025).
