Maintaining our homestead in the mountains of South Africa

We are situated on a remote piece of farm land in the cederberg mountains with our tiny homestead among a fruit orchard. This week we share some of the chores we get done as we maintain and improve our space. We clear a large section of overgrown grass and weeds among the fruit trees as well as set up an irrigation system to slowly water every single plant. We set up sprinklers to start growing the grass between the fruit trees to enjoy a large open area for our animals to run wild without the worry of snakes or ticks. We also prepare the garden for winter and plant seeds to start growing as we head into the cooler months of the year. Tasks on the farm keep us busy but there’s always time for a cuddle break with the furr babies!!
