Gearrannan Blackhouse Village | Isle of Lewis Blackhouse

Come with us to Gearrannan Blackhouse Village on the Isle of Lewis, where history meets the Atlantic winds. I visited with my Mum for the afternoon wandering through the restored blockhouses, smelling the peat fire burning, Gaelic songs and Mum sharing stories of staying at her Granny's blackhouse when she was wee, when those weren't museums but family homes. I hope you enjoy this look around the last blackhouse village in Scotland to be occupied. We had been up at 3am that day to experience the sun rising over the stones on the longest day of summer, hope you enjoyed that wee extra at the end.
