Show Up For Eat Street Campaign

Show Up For Eat Street demonstrates what is possible when neighbors show up for one another. Eat Street is one of Minneapolis’ most vibrant cultural corridors—a place where food, culture, and community come together through dozens of independently owned businesses. More than 50% of the corridor’s businesses are owned by people of color, primarily immigrant entrepreneurs, whose passion and hard work have helped make the neighborhood a destination for residents and visitors alike. When Operation Metro Surge and the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti disrupted life along the corridor, local businesses experienced an immediate decline in customers and revenue. In response, SPEAK MPLS, The Coven, Zeus Jones, Whittier Alliance, and Lake Street Council quickly mobilized to launch a rapid-response fundraising and storytelling campaign to support local businesses and encourage residents to invest in the neighborhood they love. Built on years of trust and collaboration, the partners activated media, marketing, community organizing, and fundraising to amplify the voices of local business owners and invite the community to rediscover one of Minneapolis’ most beloved destinations. The campaign raised nearly $200,000 for more than 40 businesses, documented a defining moment in Minneapolis history, and demonstrated the power of local partnerships to strengthen communities in times of need.
