OUTSIDE THE ATLAS MOUNTAIN RACE: TAKING TURNS.

After his victory in 2020, Sofiane Sehili decided to return to the Atlas Mountain Race in Morocco last year, taking on the challenge for a second time. After a rather conservative start and more sleep than he is accustomed to, he was still going toe to toe with the leading group, navigating between 3rd and 5th place. Just after Checkpoint 2, and before he could get a chance to play his famous no-sleep card, disaster struck: a mechanical abruptly annihilated his chances of continuing in the race. Flooded with adrenaline and fully locked into race mode, Sofiane suddenly found himself standing by the roadside, with no realistic way to carry on, while the leaders disappeared into the distance. Forced to rethink his plans on the spot, Sofiane had no choice but to change his approach entirely. Converting his Beyond Ti into a singlespeed setup, he turned the journey back to Marrakesh into a time of reflection.
