Bikepacking into the Afghan Pamir

In the summer of 2025, Alexander Niklass, Theo Blindow, Ruben Meersman, and Olf headed to Afghanistan and traversed the Big Pamir, the most remote corner of the Afghan Wakhan Corridor. The expedition pushed through grueling heat, countless cases of food poisoning, and freezing river crossings. The goal was to reach the Kyrgyz nomads, who have lived there for generations, and learn about their traditional way of life in valleys at over 4000 metres above sea level.
