Hiking the 4-day Inca Trail: Day 1 - KM 82 to Ayapata
I took my mom to Peru specifically to hike the Inca Trail. We decided on the 4-day classic Inca trail rather than the Salkantay or anything else, to experience the "original" route. The first day had us leaving Cusco at 4 am to drive to the KM 82 starting point (2700 m elevation), hiking about 14 kilometers up to our night camp at Ayapata (3300 m elevation).
