Isabelle Sparkle - What happens if Parkrun feels harder? Slow Down, Be Supportive, Promise Ice Cream

So today at Parkrun it was a tough one for Isabelle... for a few reasons. 1. Due to unfortunate scheduling and in addition to normal Friday school Isabelle has Swimming lessons in the morning, Gymnastics Lessons after School and more swimming lessons after that. 2. New shoes, I've bought Belle some great new Nikes. but they are still a whole size too big, So she ran in her New PE shoes (Skechers) for the very first time..they were not very efficient. 3. She had a belly ache halfway round... which I think was a little too much food/drink before we left the house But... the takeaway...She was brave today, really brave. Things felt off for her and she couldnt perform to her own expectations. It was harder than normal and its hard to understand why when you are so young, in her mind she wants to bust records every run. This is why the emphasis on this video isnt about going fast or performing your best as those instances are much fewer and require alot of things to be right. Certainly when preparing a youngling like Isabelle you have to be prepared for those harder days, be able to accept them but most importantly to not let them deter you from trying again. We all have good days and bad days and running certainly reflects that. When everything aligns in life you run your best... if just one thing is off it will be noticed. We got around in the end in a time that about 6 weeks ago would have been her PB. She still managed a killer sprint finish. Live to fight another day. I treated her to an Ice Cream afterwards so alls well that ends well :) I love this girl a little more every day, she doesn't need to blow the doors off to make me proud.
