The Ikarus 303 Story: The Bus that Beamed Down from the Future [Hungarian Bus History]

Throughout the 1950s and much of the 1960s, buses of the communist/socialist Eastern Bloc were mostly utilitarian in looks as well as amenities. However, in 1959, Ikarus introduced a radically new type of mid-sized bus that was very different from others of the time. It was called the Type 303. The Type 303 was originally supposed to be a replacement for the Type 31, and was going to be designated type 33. It was actually going to be a "baby" version of the larger Type 55, and it would inherit its famously large rear end. But, that plan was scrapped, and the engineers at Ikarus designed a new bus with styling and mechanical features that was unlike any other bus that was on the road at that time. Only 9 units were built. See and hear the story of the Type 303! And as always, thank you so much for watching, liking, commenting and sharing my videos!
