The Story of the Semi-Trailer Bus that Moonlighted as a Truck [Czech Bus History]
Semi tractor-trailer buses have always been an intriguing type of transport vehicle. Hitting their peak during World War II to carry workers to factories and back home again, this form of transportation was never really mainstream...except maybe for Cuba. In 1960, a new, single prototype semi-trailer bus appeared in Czechoslovakia that was to be part of a larger family of buses, very similar in design to the Skoda RTO series of buses. It was called the Karosa NO 80, which also was often pulled by a Skoda 706 RTTN tractor. NO stood for Passenger Trailer, and 80 was for its total capacity, sitting and standing. However, only one NO 80 semi-trailer bus was built. It lasted for 17 years, and was never scrapped, although it was being used as an animal feeder when it was rescued by a bus enthusiast. NO 80 was fully restored to its past glory, and is now used for various outings, fan trips and is one of the few semi-trailer buses fully restored in existence. See and hear the story of the Karosa NO 80 Semi-Trailer bus! And as always, thank you so much for watching, liking, commenting and sharing my videos!
