Being Stuck In Japan And Hating It | What Are The Solutions | Life In Japan Isn't For Everyone 🇬🇧 🇯🇵
We moved to Japan almost three years ago and, thankfully, we genuinely love our life here 🇯🇵✨ Recently, we met a British lady and asked her how she was finding life in Japan. Her response completely surprised me. She told us she hated it and was desperate to move back to the UK 🇬🇧😔 It really reminded me that, although many people dream of living in Japan, life here isn’t for everyone. Japan is often seen as futuristic and technologically advanced 🤖🚄, but day-to-day life can be very different. There’s still a lot of paperwork involved! Every visit to the doctor seems to come with multiple sheets of paper 📄😂, and many forms ask for the same information over and over again. The most challenging paperwork I’ve dealt with so far was registering our marriage in Japan—I genuinely felt like pulling my hair out 😫💍 Another challenge has been making friends. Leaving family and friends behind is never easy, and building meaningful relationships can take a long time. If you're a social person, the loneliness can be tough at times ❤️🩹 Then there’s the language. Japanese is incredibly rewarding to learn, but it’s also one of the most challenging parts of living here 📚🇯🇵. It takes a huge amount of time and effort, and if you're not fluent, everyday communication can sometimes be difficult. One thing I’ve learned is that living in Japan is completely different from visiting Japan on holiday ✈️➡️🏠. As a tourist, you see the highlights. As a resident, you experience the realities—the good, the bad, and everything in between. This lady has been on her Japan journey for over 30 years, while we’re only three years in. Hearing her perspective definitely made me reflect on our own future and wonder how we’ll feel in another 10, 20, or 30 years 🤔💭 For now, though, despite the challenges, we’re grateful for the life we’ve built here and excited to see where this journey takes us next 🌸✨ This version keeps a professional vlog-style tone while still feeling personal and relatable.
