Life In Rural Japan | British Family | June Vlog Part 1 | Birthday Celebrations | Sushi | Weeding
We bought some Korean noodles from Gyomu Supermarket, which has a really good range of international foods. This was a follow-on from our Japanese spicy noodle challenge, which wasn't actually that spicy, even though it had "shock" written on the packaging! ๐๐ถ๏ธ We also found a lovely local park called Kodaira River Park. It's perfect for BBQs, and there is a river which kids can play in โ๏ธ๐๏ธ๐ฆ We had a late birthday celebration, as I spent my birthday in the UK. My daughter decided she wanted to go to Hama Sushi, which is great for people who enjoy sushi but aren't particularly fond of raw fish. There really is something for everyone there ๐๐ฃ๐ We also received another parcel from our lovely friends in the UK, so at the moment we're completely spoilt for choice when it comes to British treats. It's always nice to have a little taste of home ๐ฌ๐ง๐ฆ๐ It is now rainy season in Japan and also the season when rice is being planted. The rice fields are always full of water at this time of year, so whenever it rains, I can't help but think how much it must help the people planting the rice. ๐ง๏ธ๐พ One great tip for anyone moving to Japan on a budget is to visit the second-hand and recycle shops. They're a great way to find cheaper appliances and bits and pieces for the house. If you're visiting Japan on holiday, you can often find some lovely items too, including clothes, purses, bags, and other bargains. โป๏ธ๐๏ธโจ We also went to an event at a temple, and apparently it's very rare for this event to be held in Fujioka. We paid to take part in the service, and while it wasn't exactly what we expected, it was a really amazing experience. We both felt quite energised afterwards โจโฉ๏ธ๐ I did my first weeding session with the taiko group, and it took a lot longer than I thought it would! Although weeding in the heat isn't exactly enjoyable, I really do like the community spirit in Japan. There was a real sense of satisfaction and togetherness when we finished. We were also invited to have lunch with the taiko group afterwards, which was lovely. It was nice to get to know everyone on a more personal level rather than just playing the drums together. ๐ฅ๐ฑ๐ค The social side of our lives in Japan has started to pick up recently, and we attended a party where we met lots of lovely people ๐ค๐ It's experiences like these that are really helping Japan feel like home. ๐ก๐ And finally, we have a very happy Yakult lady who delivers to our house. She was so pleased to receive some biscuits from the UK! ๐๐ช Thanks for following along with our Japan adventures ๐ฏ๐ต๐โจ #japanadventure #japan #japanlife #japaneseculture ๐ค
