"Eating Around" went in search of those little doors that hide delicious secrets. The itinerary explores discreet addresses in São Paulo to reveal traditional recipes and stories of families who have preserved flavors for generations. In the north zone, the team visits a trattoria run by Edison Ivanov, heir to a centuries-old lasagna recipe created by his mother after the war to support the family. Prepared in a clay dish, the recipe maintains Italian tradition and shares space with another house classic: spaghetti carbonara. Also in the north zone, a traditional Armenian house has kept a wood-fired oven, built along with the building, burning since 1948. Managed by the third generation of the Deyrmendjian family, the place preserves recipes brought by immigrants, such as esfihas, kibbeh, breads, and other specialties prepared with original techniques. In Mooca, pastry chef Luana Ferracini transformed her own house into a charming pastry shop. A former architect, she prepares artisanal sweets, such as chocolate cake with caramel and almonds, and the Marília cake, created in homage to her mother.
