Queen - Live in London - 26th December 1979 (2022 Transfer)
The pictures were taken by Dave King (top right) and Unknown Photographers. Tour: • Crazy Tour (1979) Date: 26th December 1979 Venue: Hammersmith Odeon City: London, England, UK Attendance: ca. 5,000 Used recording(s): • Audience recording (A): "Hammersmith Odeon 1979, 2022 transfer" (Wardour) silvers This is the final show of the Crazy Tour, the year 1979 and the 70s in general. Over the next few months, the band would continue recording and finishing "The Game", completely changing the band forever due to the huge success of the more funk and pop orientated hit singles. This was also Freddie's last live concert without a moustache. Originally, the finale of the tour was supposed to take place on December 22nd at the Ally Pally but Queen, along with other famous acts (including The Who, Wings, The Clash and Robert Plant) over the next few days, played this show as part of the Concerts for the People of Kampuchea. A two-LP set of this series was released in 1981, including tonight's performance of "Now I'm Here". The setlist sees "Jailhouse Rock" returning to the opening slot along with "If You Can't Beat Them" being played for the last time ever. Along with it, tonight sees the final live performances of "Don't Stop Me Now", "Spread Your Wings" and "'39". As usually on the Crazy Tour, the atmosphere tonight is absolutely fantastic (although Freddie has to get the crowd going after "Somebody to Love"). Considering it's the last day of Christmas, Brian includes a gorgeous snippet of "Silent Night" during his guitar solo, greatly appreciated by the audience which returns the favour after "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", just continuing to sing the song which gets the band in a one-off reprise before launching into "Bohemian Rhapsody". 00:00:00 - Cheering 00:00:47 - 01.
