Madagascar pochard saved from extinction (and the huge impact on the lives of local people)
This film tells the extraordinary story of how in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, we overcame extraordinary challenges to save the world's rarest duck, the Madagascar Pochard. Conservationists rescued ducklings from a remote mountainous lake to hand-rear them and release. Caring for the lake and local environment meant that local people began to see benefits such as better fishing and farming outputs. And if this piques your interest, you can find out more about our pioneering work rescuing species from the brink of extinction, by visiting the Mission Possible exhibit at WWT Slimbridge.
