Madagascar Pochard: Saving the World's Rarest Bird - An Expedition Film | WWT
The Madagascar pochard is the world's rarest duck with numbers thought to total fewer than 30 in the wild. This unique diving duck has twice been declared extinct and is hanging on by the most fragile of threads. WWT and partners went to Madagascar to establish a captive population, and work with the local communities to address the issues that are affecting this bird's survival in the wild. See how the project has progressed so far, from the collection of a clutch of the world's most precious eggs to the hatching of the most delightful of ducklings.
