古い町並み散歩#19|因幡街道 大原宿|古町町並み保存地区|岡山県美作市古町|令和の時代に残る懐かしき風景|水路のある町割り
Please take a look at this video of a stroll through an old townscape that remains in the Reiwa era. For this old town walk, we'll be walking through Ohara-juku (Furumachi Townscape Preservation District) on the Inaba Kaido, which connects Harima Province and Inaba Province. Ohara-juku, located in the northeastern part of Mimasaka, adjacent to Inaba and Harima, is located halfway along the Inaba Kaido, which was the route Emperor Godaigo took to visit the capital during the Heian period and on his alternate attendance route during the Edo period. It has long flourished as a post town on the road connecting Tottori and Himeji. Ohara-juku (Furumachi) has been used for economic, cultural, political and even military purposes. There are abundant waterways on both sides of the street, and the remains of the main inn and side inn buildings still remain in the center of town. The townscape is made up of townhouses from the late Edo period to the Meiji and Taisho periods, and the atmosphere of the old highway still remains strong. In 1986, it was designated a "Townscape Preservation District" by Okayama Prefecture, and has also been certified as one of the "Okayama 100 Historical Journeys" and "New Japan's 100 Best Walking Paths." In May 2017, it was selected as a "Dream Highway Renaissance" certified district by the Chugoku Economic Federation and the Chugoku Regional Development Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Ohara-juku is one of the "Three Post Towns of the Inaba Kaido," along with Chizu-juku in Chizu Town, Tottori Prefecture, and Hirafuku-juku in Sayo Town, Hyogo Prefecture, which are also post towns on the Inaba Kaido, and still retains the atmosphere of a post town to this day.
