The Faller's Corner: Knocking Out A Hanger

Filmed in August, 2023. NorCal Coast. We can see the smoke from all the fires burning in fairly close proximity. Ironic that this is a fire reduction thinning. This unit is being thinned in an effort to reduce the fuel load, both laterally (ground & low level) and upper story, potential. The premise is - trying to mitigate the catastrophic and devastating damage to flora and fauna. Because,,, it's not a matter of IF a fire rolls through this area, it is WHEN... I go through a pretty detailed explanation of the thought process while on camera. Even to the point of revisiting the stump for the viewer's pleasure. It was unfortunate that I didn't film the start. But, as stated, this one was "going to come right out". Because the chain wasn't able to evacuate the chips fast enough, wooding up was seen. This is quite common with a new teeth. This is one was to deal with a hangup. Chunking the hanger down is another. Albeit, far more dangerous and yielding much less merchantable volume most often.
