Steel Talons (arcade) Atari Games' Steel Talons is an early 90s helicopter combat game with flat-shaded polygon graphics. It can be played in 3rd or 1st person views, with a Real Heli flight mode available that can be tricky but allows freer movement. Clearing missions within the target times (Ace/Pass) will award extra fuel. Point bonuses can be earned in-game by beating the best times. On finishing the game, any Aced or Passed missions will raise your completion bonus. ST's arcade version also has both 2P co-op & head-to-head modes. It was ported to Genesis & SNES. The Genesis version unfortunately overtaxes the Sega 16-bit system & suffers a low frame rate. The playability takes a hit. I'm sure a 32X version would've been much better. SNES's port strips down the graphics but doing this actually makes it smoother than the Sega one, even without the help of a Super FX chip. Atari (not the same company as Atari Games/Tengen, but rather the one that made the Jaguar) released a decent version for their Falcon 030 computer.
