Hip strength and mobility | Pilates Live

This is a mat-based class designed to improve strength and mobility around our hip region, particularly focused on engaging our glute muscles. Difficulty: Easier Length: 35 minutes The class begins in standing, then continues onto our sides and onto our backs on the mat. As always please remember to work to a level that feels safe and comfortable to you. This class includes: Standing squats Clam Scissors with side tap One leg circle Hip fold and stretch Salute Roll downs Side lying rainbow toe taps Side kick Hip twist Slide to kick Bridge with heel lifts Rotation stretch Glute and hamstring stretch Sitting ‘Y’ stretch The class begins in standing working into our quadriceps and glutes with some squats. We continue in standing to work into our legs and glutes with a standing clam and scissors with side tap movement. We then mobilise our hips and challenge our balance with a one leg circle. We then move and extend through our hips with a hip fold and stretch movement before we stretch out through the fronts of our hips into our hip flexors with a salute stretch. We then mobilise our spines with some roll downs before moving down onto the mat onto our sides to continue the class. On our sides we begin by challenging our core and glutes with some rainbow taps and our endurance and control with a side kick movement. Once we have done this on both sides we then continue the class onto our backs. On our backs we begin by opening out and rotating into our hips with a hip twist movement. We then work on our control and muscle strength with a slide to kick movement and bridge. We then cool down with a rotation stretch and glute and hamstring stretches. Finishing the class into sitting with a ‘Y’ stretch. __________________ Interested in more Pilates?
