HENRY MARTYN: El joven misionero que murió predicando en INDIA y PERSIA | BITE

Henry Martyn was born in 1781. His father, a miner, managed to send Henry to school and university with great effort. Martyn was one of Cambridge's most outstanding students. But in 1802, he decided to become a missionary, inspired by the life of David Brainerd. He volunteered to serve in Africa and the East, but ultimately went to India as a chaplain. In addition to his duties among the English, he quickly learned Hindi, making his preaching appealing to the country's inhabitants. Martyn's main task in all his missionary work was his translation work. He translated the Anglican Church's "Book of Common Prayer" into Hindi and some of the Gospel parables, but he soon devoted himself to his greatest work: the translation of the New Testament into Hindi. According to him, the months he spent translating were the happiest time of his life. After this, he moved to the interior of Persia to work on translating the New Testament and the Psalms into Persian. Martyn died while traveling through the Middle East, dedicated to bringing the gospel to Muslims.
