WILLIAM BORDEN: El joven MISIONERO que dejó atrás una herencia millonaria | BITE

William Borden was born a millionaire. After graduating from high school, his parents gave him a trip around the world with Walter Erdman, a minister and missionary. During his trip, he visited missionary sites and stations in Japan, China, India, Egypt, Syria, and Turkey. This trip was transformative for William and planted in him the desire to become a missionary, despite his father's disapproval. In 1905, he entered Yale University. William was disappointed by the spiritual coldness at the university, so he and a friend started prayer meetings and Bible reading before breakfast. By the end of his freshman year, 150 students were meeting. By his senior year, 1,300 students were attending the meetings. He established the first rescue mission in New Haven. Thanks to his work in this area, in one year, 14,000 people attended church, 17,000 received a hot meal, and 8,000 found a place to sleep. His passion inspired many of his peers to the ministry. After graduating from college, William turned down many job offers before enrolling at Princeton Seminary. Upon graduation, he headed to China. He first arrived in Egypt to learn Arabic. But a few days later, he contracted meningitis and died at the age of 25. William Borden used his inheritance and family fortune to sponsor missions, preach the gospel, and provide social services. After news of his death reached the United States, hundreds of young people dedicated their lives to missions.
