Rahul Gandhi Questioned by ED for 11 Hours | ISH News

On13th June 2022, Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Delhi where he was called as they suspected the Congress party was involved in money laundering in connection to the National Herald newspaper. Gandhi was surrounded by hundreds of party workers, who marched to the ED office from Congress headquarters, despite the Delhi Police denying them permission. He was questioned by the ED for hours. Then yesterday again he went to the ED’s office and was questioned for more than 11 hours. The questioning finished at 11:30pm and then he went to Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to visit Sonia Gandhi, who has been infected with COVID-19. Gandhi has been called again on 15th June for questioning and the recording of the statement. The National Herald was a newspaper founded by Jawaharlal Nehru along with other freedom fighters in 1938. The newspaper was managed by Associated Journals Limited (AJL). In 2013 BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a case in court saying the Gandhis used Congress party funds and took over AJL to try to acquire more than 20bn rupees in property assets and were involved in a lot of money laundering. So the case has been going on since 2013 and now the ED is investigating to understand the shareholding pattern, financial transactions, and role of the promoters of Young Indian Limited (YIL ) and Associated Journals Limited (AJL). However, Congress said they have not done any money laundering and accused the BJP of "political vendetta". Please keep watching ISH News as we will keep you updated on this news.
