Zambia's Energy Sector Diversifies to Drive Investment and Industrial Growth

Zambia’s energy sector is no longer defined by electricity generation alone. As the Energy Regulation Board showcases its work at this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola, the numbers reveal a sector that has expanded rapidly through increased private investment, stronger competition and new opportunities across petroleum, LPG, renewable energy and electricity. From just 19 Oil Marketing Companies in 2006 to 622 today, and from 1,914 megawatts of installed generation capacity to more than 4,100 megawatts, the sector is becoming a key driver of jobs, investment and economic growth.
