He fought in the heavyweight division for the MMA promotion Bellator. His first appearances took place online, where videos of his underground fights were initially distributed. Law enforcement never intervened, as the fights were considered consensual. After leaving street fighting behind, he began officially competing in mixed martial arts, trained by Bas Rutten. From 2010, he also practiced boxing, a discipline in which he remained undefeated (though he had never fought a match lasting more than four rounds, nor, consequently, against opponents of any standing for this discipline).
