Hello friends of How Do I Fix It, after much thought, I decided to change the timing belt on my C4 Grand Picasso. It's an important part of any engine's life, because if it breaks, the engine suffers significant damage. This is the first time I've done it. I apologize to the professionals for any mistakes or errors I may have made, but all in all, the result is good. I'm very happy to have changed it myself. Also, to have saved a few euros—and quite a few, since there are bills approaching €500. Finally, I'll tell you what it all cost me: no more than €120 with top-quality products. If you decide to do this repair, go over all the steps, decide where you're going to do it, and don't rush it that day. It doesn't happen quickly; it takes time. I started around 9:30 a.m. and finished around 2:30 p.m., with no experience with that belt. I assume someone with experience would do it much faster. It also took me that long because I wanted to record this video as best as possible. What I mentioned in the video about air in the diesel fuel: you can manually pump it out with the help of the pump located on the engine and displace that air. Even so, the message "engine fault, go to your workshop" appeared on the screen. I ignored it because I was sure everything was done correctly and it was air in the diesel circuit. In fact, with the Torque app and an OBDII connector, you can see the faults; the fault disappeared during the day. Although the coolant is more expensive, it also has very good prices, and I didn't want to cut corners on that point. The manufacturer recommends changing the belt at 240,000 km for this 1.6 engine. That seems like a long time to me, although I don't doubt it will reach those miles. What I don't think it will reach those miles is the water pump. I had the change at 114,000 km. I thought about waiting until next year, but I'd be over 135,000 km, so I preferred to do it now and not delay any further. I hope you like it and find it helpful.
