One More Chance for My Ljungström Rig | Can I Make It Work?

Just when I was beginning to doubt my prototype rig, it started showing signs of promise. Building my version of the Ljungström rig has been one of the most challenging parts of this entire yacht project. More than once I've questioned whether it was worth continuing—but every improvement seems to reveal a little more of the rig's potential. In this video, I keep chipping away at the many jobs needed to make the rig reliable enough for sailing. One of the key tasks is casting and machining the aluminium masthead swivel bearing, another critical component that has to work flawlessly if the rig is to perform as intended. I once again melt down old aluminium car wheels and hope I can repeat the success of my previous castings. I'm also encouraged by how the sail is beginning to set. The new battens have made a noticeable difference, and for the first time I can start to see the rig behaving more like I originally imagined. Prototype boatbuilding is rarely about one big breakthrough, it's about solving dozens of small problems until, one day, everything starts coming together.
