Route de la Bérarde, Balcony Road D530, Dauphiné, France - by motorcycle

About 5 km southeast of Le Bourg-d'Oisans begins at Le Clapier and the reservoir above the panoramic road D530. This leads first south after about 9 km to the village of Le Bourg d'Arud and then another 19 km southeast following the valley of the river Romanche to La Bérarde. The road ends there; the road is a dead end. Just before the village of Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans, the road gains considerable altitude through some serpentines cut out of the rock. Just before the village, there is a modern road bridge that replaces the old pedestrian and cart bridge called 'Pont du Diable' just below. Above, in the gorge, one finds the 18th century 'Moulin du Diable'. Behind the village, 2 tunnels can be found, the second of which must be navigated with care. Overall, however, the route is easy to drive. The road is located in the department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes / Isère and there in the Dauphiné Alps.
