If your memory is deteriorating, it's not because of age. What happens to the brain if you live with elevated blood sugar for 10-20 years or more? Here's what you need to know about dementia, memory loss, and cognitive decline: all these symptoms appear much later than the problem itself. Medicine becomes involved in the late stages, but we'll look at what happens in the early stages. Stage 1. Energy levels in the brain drop. Memory is still good, with few or no symptoms. Mild fatigue may occur. Stage 2. Certain proteins begin to accumulate in the brain and are no longer eliminated. The part of the brain responsible for memory (the hippocampus) begins to shrink. The hippocampus is an energy hog. Of all the parts of the brain, it has the highest density of mitochondria (the energy plants). However, memory is still normal. Stage 3. At this stage, you begin to notice that something is wrong. You have difficulty remembering names, and your ability to learn declines. Stage 4. As you progress from stage 3 to stage 4, you begin to lose the ability to notice cognitive problems. Therefore, at stage 4, your family, rather than you, begins to notice your problems. This is usually the stage at which you are diagnosed. Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia are characterized by glucose hypometabolism. This provides the key to understanding Alzheimer's disease. It is also called type 3 diabetes. It is an energy problem. When you have too much glucose in your blood, your body compensates by shutting down its ability to utilize glucose. This is insulin resistance. This condition originates in the brain. Ask yourself 3 simple questions: 1. Do you need to eat every 2-3 hours to avoid irritability and brain fog? If so, this is an indicator of high blood sugar, even if you don't have diabetes. 2. Do you wake up between 2 and 3 AM for no apparent reason? This is also related to blood sugar. 3. If you eat something high in carbohydrates, do you feel mentally sluggish? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you may be in one of the stages mentioned above. When you have high levels of glucose and insulin in your blood, vitamin B1 deficiency occurs. Excess carbohydrates deplete the body of vitamin B1. Therefore, the most important step you can take is to eat less refined sugars and carbohydrates. Combine a low-carb diet with vitamin B1 in the form of benfotiamine (the dosage should be 4 times the recommended dosage), 1 capsule 4 times a day.
