🏴 A Winter Night at 4,000ft — Solo Wild Camping Among Britain's Highest Mountains
Solo winter wild camp in the Scottish Highlands. Winter wild camp on Aonach Mòr at over 4,000ft in the Scottish Highlands. The gondola at Nevis Range Ski Centre took me to nearly 2000ft but this was followed by another 2000ft ice covered hike to the first summit. From here I continued the hike to the second Munro; Aonach Beag 4048ft. Stunning views of the surrounding Scottish Mountains and of Britains highest; the mighty Ben Nevis at 4409ft. In this video I head high into the mountains for a freezing winter wild camp on Aonach Mòr, one of Britain’s 10 highest mountains. With snow, ice, biting winds, sub-zero temperatures of -8degC, and 17hrs of darkness, this was a real test of both kit and mindset. I spent the night alone in my Hilleberg Soulo tent, sharing the reality of winter mountain camping in the Scottish Highlands – the cold, the solitude, and the incredible mountain atmosphere that comes with being up high in harsh winter conditions. This trip is about resilience, self-reliance, quiet moments in wild places, and finding peace in the mountains during a challenging time. An 8 mile hike with 2900ft of ascent.
