Mona Ameziane experiences Morocco's oriental flair, hospitality, and diverse natural landscapes, from the vast desert to green oases and the Atlantic coast, on her road trip. Mona delves deeper into the country than package tourists can, sharing her favorite spots and insider tips. Her father was born in Morocco, and her family lives in the north. She has already traveled to large parts of the country and spent a year at school in Morocco. Therefore, Mona knows what you absolutely shouldn't miss on a trip. She watches artists and traditional artisans at work, visits nomads in the mountains, and learns from two female founders how the precious argan oil is extracted. Fez is world-famous for its old town, the largest "medina" in North Africa. Marrakech offers typical oriental markets and medieval architecture, but also the modern side of the country. In the surfer's paradise of Taghazout, Mona ventures into the waves. Her overnight stay in the desert turns out to be more adventurous than planned. Instead of a dune hike with a camel and a starry sky, there are severe storms and her tent camp has to be evacuated. Mona Ameziane was born in 1994 in Marl, in the northern Ruhr region. Her second home is northern Morocco, where her father was born, where some of her family lives, and where she frequently vacations. Since studying journalism, she has worked for WDR, including as a presenter of "Aktuelle Stunde" (Current Hour). She discusses her favorite books on the 1Live radio show "Stories" and in the book podcast "Zwei Seiten" (Two Sides) with Christine Westermann. In her own book, "Auf Basidis Dach" (On Basidis Roof), she writes about growing up between two cultures, about Morocco and Germany, and about a very special journey with her father in search of the meaning of origin and home.
