Ma rencontre avec Arlette

The Last Ones is a series of short documentaries. Each episode features an interview with one of the last survivors of the camps, who recounts their experiences during the war, their life afterward, the transmission of memory, and their perspective on the world today. Directed by Sophie Nahum and produced by HelloProd, this series gives a voice to the last survivors of the Holocaust. Born in Paris in 1931 into a very wealthy family originally from Poland, Arlette enjoyed a privileged childhood until her father's arrest in May 1941 during the Green Ticket roundup. Transferred to Pithiviers, he was deported to Auschwitz. In July of the following year, Arlette was arrested, along with her mother and sister, during the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup, and then transferred to Beaune-la-Rolande. Thanks to their mother, who displayed extraordinary courage, all three escaped deportation and hid in Touraine until the end of the war. Upon returning to Paris, their mother was convinced her husband would come back. When, a year after the Liberation, she realized this wouldn't be the case, she took her own life. As teenagers, orphaned, Arlette and her sister were left to fend for themselves. They would later marry two brothers who had also survived.
