The so-called "candy scam" occurred at Expocrato (Crato Agricultural and Livestock Exhibition) in Ceará. Customers reported being charged up to R$ 330 for sweets after weighing them, describing coercion and embarrassment in making the payment. Following dozens of complaints, the State Consumer Protection and Defense Program (Decon) inspected the Deleites confectionery stand. The inspection found abusive practices due to a lack of clarity in prices and sales without prior information that would allow consumers to estimate the final value.
