"Tenho ódio de nordestinos": alvo da PCDF disseminava preconceito na internet

The Civil Police of the Federal District, Brazil, executed a search and seizure warrant this Thursday morning against a man under investigation for spreading hate messages on social media. The man has a history of offenses including disturbing the peace, making threats, and other crimes. According to the investigation, he used a profile to publish content strongly suggesting racism and racial slurs, targeting women, Black people, people from the Northeast of Brazil, and residents of certain Brazilian states. Publications targeting specific individuals, which could constitute racial slurs, were also identified, as well as messages directed against entire groups, potentially constituting the crime of racism. One detail stood out: the team executing the warrant was mostly composed of women, Black people, and people from the Northeast of Brazil – groups that appeared to be the target of the statements attributed to the suspect. Police seized cell phones, computers, and other electronic equipment. The objective is to determine if he acted alone or if he was connected to groups or online communities dedicated to disseminating hate speech.
