The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani a suspect in a case of alleged extortion and withholding of salaries for district government civil servants. Etik's remarks while extorting her subordinates have left many shaking their heads. As reported by detikcom on Monday (July 13, 2026), Etik served as Regent of Sukoharjo for the 2021-2025 and 2025-2030 terms. Her husband, Wardoyo Wijaya, served as Regent of Sukoharjo for two terms, 2010-2015 and 2016-2021. The KPK revealed that Etik used a Regent's Decree as a tool for extortion. She asked the Head of the Sukoharjo Regional Revenue and Expenditure Agency (BPKAD), Richard Tri Handoko, to collect 40% of the incentives received by BPKAD employees. The KPK revealed that this extortion was a "tradition," a continuation of the actions allegedly committed by her husband during his tenure as Regent of Sukoharjo. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) explained Etik's remarks when extorting his subordinates using the code word "collection fee." "The intention was for the BPKAD employee to make a deposit to the then-Regent," said Asep. Etik is suspected of receiving Rp 2.93 billion in collection wages from 2021 to 2026. Furthermore, Etik is also suspected of soliciting regular payments from Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD). He allegedly instructed Tri Mulyo, Head of the General Section of the Sukoharjo Regional Secretariat, to collect the money for the regular payments. The following are Etik's alleged remarks to request the regular OPD payments: 'Padakno karo bapak' (Make it the same as your father). "During the previous Regent's term, he also requested payments from General Section employees, with the order 'golekno 500 akhir tahun' (find 500 million for the end of the year)," said Asep. Asep suspects Tri collected the money during the holiday bonus (THR). Tri is also suspected of providing payments from fictitious expenditures and procurement markups to Etik. "During the 2024-2026 period, the total ETS revenue from 'routine OPD deposits' collected by TRM amounted to IDR 840 million," he said. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confiscated IDR 21.2 billion in evidence in this case.
