Don't Send Money. Buy Them a Business. | Day 15 of 100

An Allowance Never Ends. Here's the Thing That Does. There's a version of this where you're not paying an allowance for the rest of your life. Where her parents stop asking — not because you said no, but because they don't need to anymore. That's where my family is now. So today I'll tell you exactly how we got there, what it cost, and the one hard rule that made the whole thing work. Here's the core of it. An allowance is infinite — you commit to it in year one and you're still paying it in year twenty, and every month it reminds both of you exactly who's holding the money. Capital is finite. You pay once, and then it earns. That's the whole difference: supporting somebody for the rest of your life, versus setting them up so they can support themselves. I didn't just draw a line. I took a real loan against my own salary and put capital into my parents' little shop — and I'll be honest, I'm not rich, I had to borrow it. Then something I didn't see coming: my father woke up. He grows cassava, so now he bakes and sells cassava cake from his own harvest, every single day. An allowance makes a person smaller. Capital woke my parents up. But it only works with a hard edge on it. The four rules — including the one that makes the whole thing work: if it fails, I will not bail you out. And the honest part nobody tells you: why these little businesses usually die (lista, and money sense), why it takes years not months, and the one question that finally cracked it for us — don't ask what business to start, ask what they're already doing, effortlessly, that could become one. Both sides get called out here. The man who funds a business to buy control or affection. And the family that takes everything from the one person who's earning — because a family like that doesn't get rescued, it just drowns together, slightly slower. New here, or just finding this? This is the payoff of a five-part arc on money and family. Start at Day 12 and watch it in order — it'll make far more sense. The goal was never to give forever. The goal is to give in a way that ends. You've done something better than being kind — you've made yourself unnecessary. And there's no better gift than that. ▶️ Start the money & family arc — the age gap (Day 12):    • Age Gap in the Philippines: Why It Keeps H...   ▶️ Why her parents have nothing behind them (Day 13):    • Her Family Keeps Asking for Money — Here's...   ▶️ The number, and how to set the boundary (Day 14):    • Setting Financial Boundary with Her Family...   🔔 New morning walks most days.
