"Nice Guys Finish Last" Is a Lie — Here's What's Actually Happening... "Nice guys finish last." Some men say it like it's a law of physics. Where I grew up in the Philippines, it was almost the opposite — the dependable man was the one everybody wanted you to marry. So let's pull it apart, because I think both sides are getting part of this wrong. To the men: if you were kind, you showed up, you treated her well, and she still walked away with someone who treated her like garbage — I see you. This one's for you. But I'm not going to blow smoke and tell you it's all her fault. A lot of men calling themselves "nice guys" are running a tab: sweet, generous, endlessly available — with a quiet expectation underneath that she'll choose them eventually. That's not kindness. That's an invoice she never agreed to pay. And to the women: getting bored of a good man because he's "too nice," then chasing the one who keeps you guessing — that's not chemistry. That's a nervous system so used to chaos that peace feels uncomfortable. Break enough good hearts and you'll spend your thirties asking where all the good men went.
